Katie Holmes Changes Daughter Suri’s Name

Katie Holmes Changes Daughters Suri's Name

I guess when you are as famous as Katie Holmes you have to get a bit creative in order to protect your kids privacy. It’s even trickier for the star because on the off-chance that she is not attracting attention herself, her daughters unique name is enough to make heads turn all on its own. According to the latest issue of In Touch, Katie now refers to six-year old Suri as Sara in public in order to draw less attention to her daughter.

“Everyone in the world knows Suri Cruise, so if Katie or a babysitter says, ‘Suri,’ people immediately look to find her.”

In recent months Katie has been heard onset calling Suri by her alternate name and while on a trip to Build-A-Bear Suri herself requested that her bear be named “Sara with no H’ so it sounds like she’s loving the name change too.

I think it’s a pretty smart move on Katie’s point to call her daughter a more common name at least in public. She has said she just wants a normal life for her since splitting from Tom Cruise and it seems like Katie has taken many steps towards normalizing Suri’s still gifted life.

Do you think this is a wise move on Katie’s part or is it instead just another way of separating her daughter from an other six year old? The way I see it, if celebrities check into hotels under fake names then it makes sense that they would take extra steps to protect their children as well! Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!

Katie Holmes Takes Suri Cruise To Work

Katie Holmes takes Suri to work!

The actress was seen leaving the Music Box theater with Suri after finishing the matinee of her new Broadway comedy Dead Accounts on Saturday. The duo were headed to eat supper at a restaurant with a group friends. Suri wore a dress with a navy blue jacket while Holmes wore a red sweater dress and jean jacket.

The newly single mom plays Lorna a prickly dead-beat who has moved back in with her parents in Cincinnati following the collapse of her relationship in the comedy. In a interview with the New York Times, Holmes told:

“I’m like Lorna in that my values guide me in an instinctual way, like, ‘That feels weird’ or ‘I better send a thank you,’ “ she continued “You can easily fall into thinking, ‘Wow, I’m really something,’ “ she said. “But I believe in putting your head down and doing the work.”

This is Holmes’ second time staring in a Broadway play. She first made her debut in the revival of All My Sons in 2008.

Katie Holmes Coping After Divorce From Tom Cruise: Ice Cream And Family Talks Got Her Through It

Mouths gaped awkwardly when the divorce of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise was announced–and then suddenly finalized in record time. (I guess those proceedings go faster if you have hundreds of millions?) While the marriage was definitely abnormal, by Hollywood standards especially, no one expected Tom to let go so easily, or for those smiles to be plastered on. Katie seemed strong and self assured, quickly moving out (all the way to New York City), taking Suri, and hiring a kick butt legal team. The young mom spent time in Ohio with her family after the split, and is only just opening up about her emotional recovery.

Katie described her time there as a balance between three important things: eating, running, and talking. She discovered a heart-attack dessert called Spouse Like A House, which is a toss of dark and white chocolate covered pretzels, smothered in caramel. Worst part is, she didn’t gain a pound because she devoted her time to running at a neighbourhood park. But it wasn’t all gorging and scenic runs. Katie turned to her family for support and advice as she learned to be a single mom. She explained, “I have these moments where what’s going on in my life is unbelievable, and you have to tell everyone to figure out how to respond. My siblings and I are always on the phone saying: ‘Oh my God, what do you think? What does mum think? What does dad think?’ And then you act accordingly.”

I’m glad to hear she has a strong support system to whom she and Suri can always turn. I can’t say what it must have been like for Suri to see her mom in that state, but being surrounded by aunts, uncles, and grandparents who feed you ice cream every night probably helped her too! We’ve been pretty worried about how this split has affected Suri, as her dad has basically abandoned her and moved to London to film. Of course, she’s financially set for life thanks to child support, but it must be emotionally devastating. I hope Tom’s being honest about Skype dates! What do you think of Kate’s recovery plan?
