Jennifer Lopez: I Try to Be a Good Mom

Jennifer Lopez Covers Elle Magazine

Looking stunning as usual, Jennifer Lopez covers the January 2013 issue of Elle Magazine. The 43-year-old singer opens up about being a good mom to her twin children, Max and Emme and her upcoming project.

On being a role model to her children:

“I hope I’m teaching them about life by example. Like that with hard work you can accomplish anything; you have to be charitable; that you have to treat people the way you want them to treat you. You can tell kids things until you’re blue in the face, like, ‘Don’t drink!’ But if you drink all day, they’re going to probably wind up drinking. They will pick up on that. I just try to be a good mom and set a good example.”

On showing personal pictures of her kids during her shows:

When you’re doing your own show, you can craft things exactly the way you want them. Nobody gets to interpret it for you. It was really nice to be able to do that.I think, as an artist, I wanted to really how all the different parts and sides of who I am: who people see me as, who I really am, then me as a mom and then where I am in my life today. I feel like that journey is super-important. There’s no way I could leave them out, you know?”

Gwen Stefani: “I Have Learned to Delegate”

Gwen Stefani poses for the January cover of Marie Claire while opening up about her struggle to balance her career with motherhood.

The No Doubt singer admits that is a struggle to balance a successful designing and music career while being a full-time mom to sons Kingston, 6, and Zuma, 4.

“I was swimming upstream, trying to balance everything that’s been going on with having kids and a family…I would be up all night because my second baby didn’t sleep, and he had a lot of ear infections. Then I’d wake up in the morning and do my workout, which I always felt I had to do, and then meetings for my three clothing lines, and then hang out with my kids, take them to preschool – da, da, da.”

While recording No Doubt’s latest album Push and Shove, the singer detailed that her schedule was so hectic she had to give up something.

“At four o’clock, I’d be like, “All right, I’m out of here. I’m going to go to the studio and try to write a record. I’d sit on the couch [with my band mates] and be like, ‘Let’s do this now, because I’m missing time with the kids. I could be having dinner with them and putting them to bed.’ It was really hard.”

“This past year, I kind of stopped working out. I think my body just needed a break. And so I did that and focused more on feeling good as opposed to beating myself up.”

“I have learned to delegate. I’ve got myself in a whole lot of trouble by not saying no.”

Brad Pitt: Fatherhood Has Made Me a Better Man

It has been a wild year for Brad Pitt. He has 6 kids to juggle, a busy acting career and he finally is engaged to Angelina Jolie.

While promoting his most recent film, Killing Them Softly, he recently sat down to talk about what has been happening in his life and upon reflection he tells the latest issue of People Magazine that:

“It’s been a family type of year, a down-home type of year”

Angelina, or “mama” as he calls her, has worked more which means that he spent more time than usual on daddy-duty. It’s a job that the actor has come to really enjoy because it makes him be less selfish and focus on others.

Has fatherhood made him a better man?

“Absolutely,” Pitt says. Being a dad “takes you right off yourself.”

As for the much anticipated wedding, he said the couples main plan is to “Keep it simple. Keep it simple – really.”

Do you think he and Angie will ever really tie that knot? I suspect he is ready, but she seems to always find a reason to postpone exchanging those vows!

All the ugliness stems from that dragged out custody battle over little Nahla. Halle requested that the court allow her to move to France with the girl and when her request was denied, Gabriel insists that she is now trying more drastic measures to cut him out of Nahla’s life.

Alicia Keys: “Motherhood Was a Big Part of Me Breaking Free”

Alicia Keys Covers Complex

Alicia Keys covers the latest issue of Complex to promote her upcoming album Girl On Fire. In the magazine, the grammy award winning singer open up about becoming a mother and why she named her 1-yeas-old son Egypt.

Keys admits that becoming a mother helped her grow into a woman.

“Motherhood was a big part of me breaking free. Before I gave birth to Egypt, there was a certain energy of wanting to fix things. Women want to clean stuff up before the baby comes. I refused to be in any circumstance that would give negative energy to this. That was what pushed me over the edge. It was becoming a woman. I was a girl, and now I’m a woman.”

The New York State of Mind singer named her son Egypt because she had a to the country that she remembers as a growing period in her life.

“I took an important trip for myself to Egypt. There were a lot of things that needed to change. I was not as experienced then, so I felt close to a breakdown. I went to Egypt, and I went alone. I sailed down the Nile and I saw the temples, the tombs, and the pyramids. It was powerful. It was very Cleopatra. When we found out I was pregnant, my husband said, ‘Egypt was such an important time for you. That really changed your life. Wouldn’t that be amazing as a name?’ Once he said that, I was like, ‘Yes.’ ”

Keys first album since giving birth, Girl on Fire will be released at the end of the month.

It’s not a departure. It’s growth. I love the way that I’ve been able to go deeper into my lyrics and my songwriting and go to a place I was too afraid to access before.”
