The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers and updates tease that Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) knows that Imani Benedict (Leigh-Ann Rose) has a crush on Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic). While Elena and Nate are involved, they are not married.
Elena appeared to believe that telling Imani full details of how she came to be with Nate would send a message. Dawson’s character must think that Imani would recognize Nate’s commitment to her. But Imani seemed to draw a different conclusion.
If Nate was willing to break the rules with Elena, that could mean he may do so again with the right woman, which Imani thinks she is.

Fans know Dawson and Bryton James (Devon Hamilton) were an on- and off-screen couple at the time their characters were involved on the show. It is hard to know or fully confirm if TPTB always planned to write Elena and Devon to a break or if a decision was made that involved splitting the characters to give the real-life couple a break in the workplace.
In any event, the fallout that happened between Elena and Devon felt somewhat forced, similar to the more recent break between Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford).
Devon seemed like Elena’s perfect match. Their backstory was sweet, as Elena detailed to Imani. But passion changed matters at the clinic, and Elena fell in love with Nate.

Imani’s move to Genoa City, Wisconsin, helped build out Amanda Sinclair’s (Mishael Morgan) storyline. Having Imani become partners with Amanda at the law firm Morgan’s character established implied the potential for Rose’s character to grow.
Enough time has passed, and Imani has made enough passes at Nate to allow for a plausible spark between that duo if Y&R opts to write in that direction. Nate has routinely dismissed Imani’s interest in him. But there are many soapy scenarios that may be presented that enable these characters to romantically connect.
Nate Hastings Pursues Marriage Or Makes A Mistake?
Nate seems on track to eventually marry Elena and have children with her. However, just as Elena made an impulse mistake with Nate, so too could he suffer a lapse in judgment.
Imani and Amanda were drinking wine at Society as they discussed their mother’s health issues. Alcohol could be used as a vehicle to place Nate in a precarious position with Imani in the nearing future.
Elena remains tolerant of Imani pushing herself on Nate. Providing Imani with full plot details was intended to send a message to her. But fans will see if Imani takes advantage of what she learned and employs more aggressive techniques to get what she wants on Y&R.
