French President, Nicolas Sarkozy revealed that his wife Carla Bruni is breastfeeding their one-month-old daughter Giulia

“Carla is feeding the baby. I think it’s much better for protecting against allergies and illnesses,”  Sarkozy said while chatting to young mothers at a family benefits agency in south west France.

Sarkozy admits men get off easy when it comes to feeding their newborn children.

“It does free men of blame because we don’t have the problem of bottle-feeding. You don’t have to get up at night, although out of solidarity, I do open one eye.”

“But for the woman, it’s both a joy and a kind of slavery. She is worried about not having enough milk.”

“I’ve become a bit of an expert, at my age!” he added.

Nicolas,  has three children – two sons, Pierre, 25, and Jean, 23 from his first marriage to Marie-Dominique Culioli, and a 13-year-old son Louis from his second marriage to Cecilia Ciganer-Albeniz.

Nicolas and Carla Bruni Sarkozy were spotted taking their newborn daughter Giulia for a walk in Versailles, France on Monday. Carla snuggled Giulia close to her body as Nicolas looked adoringly on.

The First Lady of France and wife of President Nicolas Sarkozy, Carla Bruni, has fueled speculation that she is pregnant with her second child. Carla Bruni, who makes her acting debut in Woody Allen’s ‘Midnight In Paris’, failed to deny rumors that she is expecting when quizzed by reporters yesterday.

Carla Bruni met the recently divorced French president Nicolas Sarkozy at a dinner party in November 2007. They married at the Elysee Palace in Paris on 2nd February 2008.

In an interview with French magazine ‘Le Parisien’, Bruni fended off inquiries by clutching a shawl to her stomach and saying, “My lips are sealed to protect something.”

Asked by the reporter if the answer would be revealed in six months’ time, the First Lady giggled and said “Yes.”

Answering questions from readers of the magazine, the 43-year-old said she regretted not being able to fully discuss the pregnancy rumors that surfaced last week, saying, “I would love to speak woman-to-woman of my family life, my personal dreams, of the details of certain things.”  “Moreover I am very talkative. But here, in a way, I have my mouth sewn shut.”

Bruni is currently in Cannes promoting ‘Midnight In Paris’, which opened the Film Festival today. She plays a museum guide in Woody Allen’s romantic-comedy about a young family traveling to the French capital for business.  The movie also stars Owen Wilson, Marion Cotillard and Rachel Mcadams.
