Nick and Sharon’s pursuit of Cassie, with Grace Turner (Josie Davis, followed by Jennifer Gareis) and Tony Viscardi’s (Nick Scotti) help, represents an indelible storyline in that era. That effort was part of one of Y&R’s greatest love stories, with Sharon and Nick’s early married years including many memorable tales.
Cassie’s tragic death, which happened in her teen years, was the impetus that tore Sharon and Nick apart. They divorced more than fifteen years ago in real-time. While two attempts at remarriage happened, realized nuptials never resulted.

All the elements are already in place. Most importantly, neither character has any romantic ties, with Nick ending his revival with Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) months ago.
Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) and Faith Newman (Reylynn Caster), along with Cassie’s stolen, identical twin, Mariah Copeland (Grimes), seem more likely to support a comeback at this point in Y&R’s history as compared to when they held collective doubts in past years.
So, how it happens is likely based on what Sharon wants. She will need to be ready for romance again and decide if a revival is realistic. Nick would seem inclined to take that risk if her answers are yes.
