The “Dancing With The Stars” judge Derek Hough and his fianceé Hayley Erbert almost bid farewell to this world but mercy said no! Not this month, not this season, your time is not yet come.
The couple was on their way to a dinner date when their car had an accident which left Hayley with some scars. But, they’re grateful for coming out alive to tell the tale.
Derek Hough — About The Accident, And Hayley’s Reaction After The Accident.
The couple didn’t explain how the accident came to be, whether the driver lost his balance or the car failed break but, they described their situation as “pretty scary” and it involved, “a steep hill, icy roads, a tree, and worst of all, the fear that we would slide off the mountain.”
Taking to her Instagram account, Hayley put up a video of their damaged car, her injuries, the firemen, and paramedics that were at the accident scene.
According to Hayley, the incident occurred on Dec. 12, and they were thankful for coming out alive. Detailing her experience, her post reads, “On December 12, Derek and I got into a pretty scary car accident in the mountains. Our accident involved a steep hill, icy roads, a tree, and worst of all, the fear that we would slide off the mountain.”
Continuing, the “So You Think You Can Dance” alum said, “Given the circumstances, we have so much to be grateful for. First, there were no other people involved. Second, the quick response from paramedics. And lastly, that we are both okay and that I only walked away a little banged up with a swollen face, and four stitches above my eyebrow.”
Hayley went on to add, “Now, more than ever, we realize how fragile life is and how important it is to love those around you. We hope that everyone has a safe, healthy, and happy holiday season. XO.”
In the comments section, Derek revealed that after the accident, it took Hayley about 20 minutes to realize she had been in an accident.
Derek said, “The scariest part was that Hayley doesn’t remember anything. She was dazed afterward, being cheerful saying we should keep going to dinner as blood ran down her face. That really scared me. She came to 20 minutes later when the firemen arrived.”

Not long after the post was made, friends and well-wishers filled the comment box to show their support and Thank God for their survival.
DWTS alum Kaitlyn Bristowe commented, “Oh my gosh you guys. So glad this wasn’t worse. ❤️❤️❤️” Peta Murgatroyd wrote, “Omfg guys I’m so glad you both are ok!!! Thank god!”
They also saw the amount of Hayley sustained and how Hayley’s injury made eating Pizza difficult for her. Cheryl Burke added, “Omg! Thank God you’re both okay. Sending you love and a fast recovery. You’ll be able to chew candy in no time.”
