Prince William Outsmarted Harry & Meghan, Neil Sean Claims

The royal commentator argued that the brief Balmoral meeting and Meghan Markle's absence from this year's public Invictus countdown event reveal a shift in the Royal Family's strategy.

Prince William has allegedly outmanoeuvred Prince Harry and Meghan Markle according to royal commentator Neil Sean. He shared his thoughts on his Daily News Headlines vlog on Saturday night.

The Balmoral Meeting: ’47 Minutes Just Under’

Sean claims Meghan is now questioning her recent visit to the United Kingdom. “Meghan Markle actually now ponders what was the whole point of that,” he said. She reportedly believed the reunion would go well.

It is not clear how Sean found out, but the allegation is that Meghan Markle thought the King might soften towards her because of the children. According to him, it didn’t work out that way.

The meeting at Balmoral was brief. Sean puts it at “47 minutes just under.” He described it as “perfunctory.” There were “no tears” and “no reconciliation.”

The message, he alleges, was basically to stop talking about security. Sean claims the royals have since proved something important. Prince Harry and Meghan can move around Britain without being spotted. They don’t need high-profile protection. That undermines Harry’s whole plan to re-enter royal life.

Meghan ‘Overshadowed’ Previous Invictus Games

Sean also discussed Invictus. Although Meghan Markle did not attend this year’s public Invictus countdown event, Sean argued she had overshadowed previous Invictus Games appearances. “From the moment she arrived in the ripped jeans, the white shirt, Harry decided that he had this trophy piece next to him,” he said.

Sean suggested that nowadays, Prince Harry is “being allowed to control everything himself.” But anyone who challenges him faces legal action. Sean pointed to Invictus CEO Sophie Chandauka as an example. He said she laid down rules to Harry about his behaviour.

William ‘Played It Cleverly’

The commentator thinks Prince William played the situation cleverly. Sean claims William warned the King this would happen. Now leaks to outlets like People magazine are controlling the story.

Prince William, according to Sean, “knows exactly how to play” Meghan. He has shown the royals are playing the “long game.”

Working Royals vs. The Sussexes

Sean contrasted all of this with William and Catherine. They had a busy week. Catherine was at Wimbledon. William worked behind the scenes. The contrast is clear. According to Sean, one couple looks competent while the other appears stranded.

Meghan’s own projects are struggling, according to the royal commentator. He called her branding “a disaster.” Her jams and other products haven’t taken off. She needs something.

She is “pacifying Harry,” he suggested. But she doesn’t actually want to return to the UK. She found Balmoral boring last time. “Not her scene at all,” Sean said.

Viewers React

The whole exercise appears to have backfired. Sean argued that Harry and Meghan had hoped the reunion would mark a fresh chapter with the Royal Family. Instead, he claimed the brief meeting suggested otherwise. Prince William, Sean argues, ensured that happened.

In the comments section, few people contradicted the opinion of the former entertainment reporter. One of them wrote, “I’m pleased to hear that Prince William is putting the brakes on the pushy Montecito couple.”

Here are a few more responses from the discussion that followed:

  • William definitely got the brains, that’s for sure. He followed the old adage, ‘Give them enough rope and they’ll hang themselves’. Stoicism paid off in this case.
  • The truth is Harry and meghan have no idea what they should do and get nervous making people think its a mental issue. Its like having a job where you’re in over your head.
  • A stealth move by William.
