Royal Family News: Sophie Wessex Reportedly Gained From “Megxit”

Royal family news reveals that Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, is undoubtedly becoming more visible as a member of the Royal Family after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex quit their royal duties for a more quiet life in the States.

The royal, 57, recently traveled to New York for a four-day visit that saw her campaigning for the rights of the women in Afghanistan. During the visit, she received substantial media exposure, leading experts to predict that the absence of Meghan, 40, and Harry, 37, has given the royal an opportunity to step up.

Royal Family News: Royal Expert Opines That The Duchess Of Wessex Is “Really Across Her Subject Matter”

A royal expert recently observed that Sophie’s profile within the royal family “has been raised” since Meghan and Harry permanently stepped down from their royal duties in early 2020.

As a result of their exit agreement, the pair lost their “HRH” titles and their royal patronages. Harry has so far lost his Rugby Football Union patronage to his sister-in-law Kate Middleton, who is an avid sports fan.

Recently, Meghan Markle’s National Theater patronage was given to Camilla, who has championed causes related to the arts and theater in the past.

While the absence of Meghan and Harry caused senior royals to take on more work, it’s been deemed beneficial for some other working royals since it allowed them to be more visible.

Royal Family News: Sophie Fights For Causes

In Sophie’s case, she’s using that visibility to fight for the causes nearest to her heart. From the beginning of the humanitarian disaster in Pakistan, Sophie has tried to plead the causes of women who are living in the country and whose rights are being violated.

Sophie, the Countess of Wessex

Russel Myers noted that while Sophie may not shine as bright as the Sussexes on social media, she’s still going to make a bigger impact now that they’re gone.

Speaking on True Royalty TV’s The Royal Beat, Myers explained: “Are the Instagram generation going to be as obsessed with Sophie and Edward Wessex as they are with the Sussexes?” Obviously not.

“However, when you’re dealing with them… Sophie’s really across her subject matter.”

“It’s not just for show and she has really grown into that. With the Sussexes not here, the Wessexes will undoubtedly benefit.”

Pointing out the similarities between Meghan’s mission and Sophie’s, he said: “The similarities between Sophie and Meghan are there to be seen. Sophie’s working with girls’ education, she’s done a lot of stuff about violence against females in Africa.”
