What to Pack for a Winter Family Beach Getaway

If you are planning a winter  destination getway, you are going to want to make sure that you know what to pack for a family trip to the beach.

The beach is one of those iconic spots that almost everyone loves visiting as soon as the weather warms up. The sand between your toes, the sound of the waves, the cool water against your skin and the sun kissing the tip of your nose, are all amazing reasons to love the beach. So, when the cold weather comes calling in the winter it only makes sense to plan a family getaway to the beach. With great planning, however, also comes great packing.

When it comes to packing your family beach bag, you are going to want to ensure that you have everything you need. After all, nothing ruins a fun family beach outing quite like forgetting a beach essential like the sunscreen.

Sunscreen

a sunscreen with the proper SPF is important when you are visiting the beach. Not only will you want to ensure that everyone’s skin is properly protected but you will want to be sure to reapply frequently, especially after going in the water.

Beach attire

Whether you wear your swimsuit to the beach or pack it to bring along with you, you are going to want a few more clothing items on hand as well. Consider packing sunhats, extra underwear and clothing, beach wraps and even some extra flip flops. You will want to make sure that you have something clean and dry to change into if your original clothing gets wet and sandy and extra footwear in case your sandals get damaged.

Beach Blanket

You will want a large beach blanket to relax on when you get to the beach. This will also provide a nice barrier between you and the sand when you want to enjoy some snacks.

Snacks

Packing a picnic lunch and a cooler of refreshments is a great idea when taking a family trip to the beach. Consider easy handheld foods like sandwiches, watermelon and bananas. You can even freeze bottles of water to put in the cooler to keep everything cold and provide a nice cool drink when thawed.

First Aid Kit

Accidents can happen, even at the beach. Make sure to pack a first aid kit and keep it close by in case of an emergency.

Beach Toys

Bringing along a couple buckets to make castles, shovels to dig and even a beach ball or a frisbee will help to keep everyone entertained during their swimming breaks.

Mesh Bag

A mesh bag is perfect for storing wet clothing, shoes and even toys to bring home. This will avoid you bringing bags upon bags of sand back home with you.

Beach Towels

This one is pretty self explanatory. Do not forget the beach towels to dry off with after your swim.

When it comes to what to pack for a family trip to the beach, you will want to ensure that you have everything you need. Being well prepared will make your beach day even more special.
