Adam Busby wrote in his caption:

It never gets cold like this in Houston where we live, so these palm trees aren’t used to weather like this. most of the week the temperature is gonna drop down into the single digits with the possibility of a few inches of snow on Tuesday here. This is a good little hack that I learned to keep from losing these expensive palm trees that I really don’t wanna pay to replace.

Here’s the hack. Adam Busby uses “heat tape”  which you can get “from Amazon.” In colder areas, it’s used to stop pipes from freezing. Or, folks run it along the edge of the roof to stop snow from building up. So, you just need to “wrap it around the trunk” of the palm tree and switch it on to keep the tree warm.

TLC Fans Respond To Cozy Palm Hack

OutDaughtered fans reacted to the heat hack, and people in the northern states confirmed they use heat tape to help keep their homes warm. One of them said they do the same thing as Adam in “The Netherlands.” Here are a few more comments:

  • Heat tape only works about 2 seasons then it is junk. Not sure why, but only a temporary fix.
  • We wrap our pipes in it in our basement. Poor palm trees.
  • Good idea for my chicken coop.
  • Cool idea…
