The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers document that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) finds herself in a bad spot. She has been railing against Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters), with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) defending the mother of his youngest son to an ever-greater degree.
Viewers recall Jack surprising them and Phyllis when he told Stafford’s character, she was his greatest love. She was still with Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) at that time in the plot. But that soon shifted, as TPTB appeared to be writing Jack and Phyllis back together.
Now, months later in the storyline, Jack holds Phyllis in contempt, blaming her for Jeremy Stark’s (James Hyde) tormenting of Diane. But, as readers of this comprehensive soap site know, Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian) returns to Genoa City, Wisconsin, just before Christmas.

Stafford’s performances in the mid-1990s elevated her to stardom. Phyllis was intended as a short-term character. But this actor’s efforts were so superb that she forced Y&R’s hand, with Phyllis developing into a legacy character.
Damian’s character is a singer, like his sister, Gina Roma (Patty Weaver), who shortened her name. Danny’s efforts led him to tour stadiums across the United States.
One of those stops included Phyllis appearing on-screen for the first time in 1994. She was an obsessed fan. Eventually, she engineered a scenario where Danny believed he was the father of Phyllis’ expectant baby, who she named Danny after her targeted father.

Damian joined the cast in 1980. While their backstories and storylines were vastly different, Danny and the current Christine Williams (Lauralee Bell) were one of Y&R’s versions of General Hospital’s super couple, Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) and Laura Collins (Genie Francis), whose last name once included Spencer. It is understood that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) are Y&R’s greatest of all-time pairing.
Brian Hamilton (last played by Steven Culp) was Daniel’s biological father. He helped to prove that Phyllis drugged Danny as part of a plan to convince him of his paternity.
Michael Baldwin (Christian Le Blanc), then recently released from prison for attacking Christine, who is Danny’s greatest love, defended Phyllis. Christine’s defense helped Danny secure custody of Daniel.
Jack Abbott Tied To Diane Jenkins
Jack would never have predicted that he would become Diane’s staunchest defender. But circumstances radically changed since she moved back to GC.
Phyllis foresaw the trouble Diane would cause, including driving an immovable wedge between Jack and everyone else except Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor). And Kyle is the reason why Diane holds the upper hand.
Jack believes Phyllis, not Diane, is a threat to the Abbott family. While Damian is believed to be returning for a short stint, Phyllis could turn to him for support and advice because Jack is no longer an option for her on Y&R.
