Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) spent a lovely Christmas at the Abbott cabin with Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor), Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), Summer Newman Abbott (Alison Lanier), and young Harrison while Jeremy (James Hyde) thought she was out of town far, far away. She continues to allow him to believe that when she returns an runs into him in Society.
That’s when Diane decides to flirt with Jeremy and make him believe there is a possibility of them getting back together. What she doesn’t know is that Diane hears the entire thing and is amazed by how believable she is.
“It’s a level of focus and courage and guts that Jack is at once alarmed by and taken by,” Peter Bergman said on January 9, 2023, issue of Soap Opera Digest. “She’s very good at this. He really admires her bravado and is almost frightened by it at the same time, but he finds it very impressive.”

Later, Jack and Diane are back at the Abbott mansion and Jack has to confess to Diane that after seeing that performance, he is not sure that he wants her tricking Jeremy anymore because she is way too believable. Diane tells Jack she has it all under control but he is not so sure.
Perhaps Jack is also a little jealous because he wants Diane to be acting like that with him and not Jeremy. Maybe it’s time for Jack to admit to himself that he has truly fallen for Diane again.
“Jack then suggests another plan to get Jeremy out of their lives for good and as they talk this over, they kiss,” Bergman said. “And Jack is the instigator this time.”
