Melissa McCarthy Opens Up About Raising Self-Confident Daughters

Melissa McCarthy has recently opened up about how she is raising self-confident daughters. As a matter of fact, she even admits that her two girls are much more confident now that the actress was when she was 30 and still trying to break through in the entertainment industry. Melissa and her husband Ben Falcone, share 11-year-old Vivian and 8-year-old Georgette.

While the actress says that there are definitely many joys and challenges to parenting, she loves watching her girls grow each and every day. Speaking to reporters at the Santa Barbara Film Festival last week, Melissa said,

“They’re really smart and funny, weird. I think they’re better [than me]. They’re further along in their young lives than I was. I feel like I had to push almost 30 to get their kind of confidence, so I love seeing that.”

Melissa says that she is especially worried about social media and the kind of impact it has on young girls. What’s more, the Hollywood actress says that she tries to tell her daughters every day to focus more on what makes them happy, rather than to worry about what other people might think about them. So far it seems as though her advice seems to be working!

Melissa added,

“I tell my kids all the time, like, you are the one that determines your self-worth. Not what other people think of you. I think we do so much now of, ‘What do you think of me?’ ‘Look at my vacation, do you like it?’”
