6 Things You MUST Pack For A Flight With The Family

Since we’re traveling around Europe this summer, I’ve got to thinking about the things that I need to pack. Anyone who’s been on a long haul flight will know that it isn’t easy. Sitting in the same airplane seat for hours on end can be… Well, let’s just say that it can be seriously tiresome. Add kids into the mix and you might just have a recipe for disaster.

This is my first time traveling with my three little ones (although I’ve gone on vacation with Ava before!), and I’m a little nervous. The biggest challenge is sure to be getting the kids to deal with the flight. It won’t be easy! That’s for sure. Still, here are some of the things that everyone must pack for a family flight.

MINI TOILETRIES

Here’s the deal: You will be stuck on an airplane for hours on end and that’s anything but comfortable. Having some mini toiletries in your bag could make all the difference, though. Things like toothpaste and soap will seriously come in handy when you want to freshen yourself and your kids up.

BABY WIPES OR FACE WIPES

Seriously, I don’t go anywhere without baby wipes these days. Kids can be mucky pups at the best of times, and so these are an absolute must. When your little ones inevitably get food down themselves, you will be ready. Super Mom to the rescue.

NECK RESTS OR PILLOWS

If you’re lucky, you (and your kids) will get a little sleep on the flight! To give yourself the best of chances, you should totally invest in some neck rests of pillows. You can pick these up in most pharmacies and even at the airport stores.

BOOKS, GAMES AND TOYS

Now, on many long haul flights, you will find that there are screens on the back of the chairs. There might be games and movies your kids can watch. Still, you shouldn’t take any chances. Be sure to grab some books, games, and toys before you head off. That way, you can entertain the little ones no matter what.

EYE-MASKS

Again, if you manage to get shut-eye on the flight, it will do you the world of good. So, with that in mind, you need to make sure that you take some eye-masks for every member of your family. You honestly won’t regret it.

HEALTHY SNACKS

Finally, let’s talk about food. The truth of the matter is that you can’t always trust airline food. If your kids happen to be a little fussy, you might end up with a fight on your hands. Once you’re through airport security, head to the nearest airport store and stock up. You will need healthy snacks that you know your kids like for the flight.

I hope that you find these tips as helpful as I do! If like me, you’re packing for a long flight with your family, don’t forget to include these little things! Good luck.

Wet wipes are always a necessity when I’m traveling with kids. They always have a backpack filled with activities and snacks when we’re traveling by plane. These are all great things to pack when traveling.

I always pack my own snacks, it isn’t about trust as much as it’s about saving money. Tech items like tablets are perfect for travel as you can preselect something you know will be enjoyed without spending a fortune renting on the plane.

I’m big on remembering to bring some antibacterial lotion because planes are always gross. Then I try to remember to bring an audiobook, too.

This is a great reminder. In about a month we are going to be doing a pretty long flight and I definitely need to remember to put the wipes in the bag. The last time we flew I forgot those and I’m really miss them.

These are definite musts for flying with kids! I remember one time my son had such a hard time with the landing because of his ears. We needed gum or something to suck on and didn’t have it!

Yes to all this! We’re frequent travelers and these are all things we bring with us while on the go.

These sound like some must pack things for a flight, I have to admit I wouldn’t even know where to start with packing for a flight for myself.

My days of traveling with kids are over. Now it is just my husband and I traveling together or by myself. All of these can still apply to us and what we need to take while we travel.

Baby wipes are so important, even as our children are growing up. There always seems to be messes anyway, and baby wipes are excellent at handling messes.

Yep you hit it all here – but I would add a DVD player ad some movies. They will save your life on long flights. Also, be prepared for tummy aches – we somehow always have one sick kiddo on long flights!

You are not kidding about baby wipes. I pack them for my 10 and 16 year old. And gross airline trays.

Baby wipes are a MUST to wipe down all the gross things in a plane. Plus they’re great for spills.

These are all great things to pack for a flight with your family. I won’t have thought to bring an eye mask but it could be very help indeed especially if the flight is a long one. Thanks for sharing the list.

Baby wipes are as essential as snacks when traveling with kids! They do make a mess sometimes and we must be prepared for that. I think an emergency medical kit would also be essential, especially if the kids have some kind of allergy or for motion sickness too.

We must be prepared for anything and everything a child would need during a flight. Wipes are a necessary item to pack. I never thought about eye masks. I think that would help get the kids some shut eye too.

These are all great tips. We took the kids to Europe last summer and they did great on the plane. We where well prepared with snacks, neck pillows and books for them to read.

It’s always fun to travel with family but lets just be honest packing is not my favorite thing to do. So much things that need to be carry on but limited space to put in. Glad I came across with this post really helps me to decide which one needs to be carry on and which one that is not necessary.

Of all the items here, I’d say that the healthy snack should never be missing. All others are also important.
