Dancing With the Stars (DWTS) pro-dancer Sharna Burgess has a brand new family member, and her fans agree that it’s the cutest little fluff ball ever. The news arrived on social media. Read on to find out more.

The Happy News

On Wednesday, the DWTS veteran took to her Instagram and shared a reel that showed a sweet puppy. She shared in her long caption that she and Brian Austin Green waited a while before they got a dog after losing their dog Sasha nearly two years ago.

It took the family two years to find the perfect addition to their home. “We looked and waited a long time for the right fur baby to come into our tribe,” she said.

Why They Chose a Puppy

While the family intended to adopt a rescue dog as they had done many times in the past, they couldn’t find a dog that fit their family needs. Ultimately, they decided that raising a puppy was the best fit, despite the extra work involved.

Sharna added, “Our goal was to of course rescue like we have many times before but unfortunately we couldn’t find who we needed. A puppy was the best choice for us (albeit insane work… potty training is harder than it was with Zane!)”

Safety and Family Needs

To safely integrate with their household of three dogs and four children, the new dog needed to be both hypoallergenic and large. Sharna shared that the family is still traumatized after losing two small dogs to coyotes at their home a few years back.

Even though they have since fortified their property, the lingering fear made a larger breed essential.

She admitted to those worries, writing, “Yes we have a Fort Knox fence now but the fear remains.”

Introducing Birdie Blue

Their newest addition, a puppy named Birdie Blue, came from a wonderful home and has settled into the family seamlessly. She is expected to grow up to 85 pounds, and the whole family is already smitten.

“Birdie Blue is perfect,” Sharna added, and the most important thing is that she’s a family-oriented pup.

Some Critics Arrived

Most people who saw the reel really seemed happy about the new furry addition in the home. However, others seemed less happy because the Dancing with the Stars pro-dancer didn’t adopt from a rescue shelter.  Still, other followers quickly defended the couple.

One of them penned, “Guys, leave them alone. I am 100% for rescuing, but they chose to adopt from a breeder because that is best for their family. Nobody has the right to shame them for that. @sharnaburgess and @brianaustingreen, Birdie is beautiful! She hit the family jackpot with you guys!”
