General Hospital Spoilers: Did “Hate” Filled Fans Cause Eva LaRue’s Dramatic Departure?
General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that the fan base is divided about the departure of Natalia Ramirez, played by All My Children vet Eva LaRue. She came on like blazes, the mom of an up and coming singer named Blaze.
But her time on the show, a little over a year, was marked with controversy. Natalia took exception to Blaze’s relationship with Kristina Corinthos (Kate Mansi), just as she would later do with her son Marco Rios’ (Adrian Anchondo) relationship with Lucas Jones (Van Hansis).
Eva LaRue Is Out at GH
The actress told Soap Opera Digest that she knows the reason why her character failed to catch on with fans: “they just hated my character so much.”
Her experience on GH was in stark contrast to her portrayal of Maria Santos on All My Children. Maria was a beloved character, and the figurehead of a strong, loving family unit.
LaRue went on to say that “I was so vilified that no matter what [the writers] did” including pairing her with Sonny, didn’t rehab the character.
“People just weren’t buying it” she added.
Why Did Natalia Leave PC?
It was a curious matchup, since Natalia was strongly against Blaze and Kristina’s relationship, with the latter being Sonny’s daughter.
In recent weeks we saw Natalia struggle to accept her son Marco just as she struggled with Blaze.
Was Natalia Ramirez Unlikeable?
There have been worse characters on daytime, and fans have embraced them. So why didn’t Natalia gain traction?
Natalia was written in one dimension. She had no warmth for viewers to grab onto, she had no whimsical quality that fans could identify with. Even the most horrific villain is human at the end of the day. In recent days we’ve learned that Natalia’s a repeat DUI offender and if that was supposed to make her sympathetic, it didn’t work for obvious reasons.
What Happens Next in Port Charles, New York?
To be fair, LaRue went on to acknowledge that she had a blast being back in daytime, and there were pockets of fans rooting for Natalia. There just weren’t enough, nor was her story properly developed enough, to ensure her continuance in Port Charles.
Tell us what you think of Natalia and LaRue’s contention that fans “hated” the character.

Natalia’s attitude toward the Kristina/Blaze pairing certainly caused pause for many viewers. I think the character was originally brought to canvas as a pairing for Sonny which wasn’t accepted by fans. Therefore as her main object for being on canvas was that of a pairing for Sonny which didn’t work and due to her feelings toward Kristina/Blaze, there was no place for the character to be developed and made part other story lines. Just my best guess.
