Sweet Home Sextuples alum, Saylor Waldrop suffered a serious injury while playing sports but treatment was delayed, his mom, Courtney Waldrop said on social media. The sports-loving former TLC star won’t be doing what he loves the most for some time.

Sixteen Years Old With A Serious Injury

Those TLC fans who follow Courtney Waldrop on social media get regular updates on all of her nine kids: Saylor, twin boys Bridge and Wales, and the sextuplets, Tag, Layke, Blue, Rivers, Rawlings, and Rayne. Saylor’s been injured before, but never this badly.

Taking to Instagram on March 8, Courtney wrote a long explanation alongside a photo of Saylor Waldrop, 16, dressed up for baseball. “This boy loves Baseball so much and puts his all into it. But this season has been very different,” she said, before noting that he hurt himself playing “basketball.”

A Spinal Injury Means No Sports For Now

The young man “will be out all of this school baseball season,” his mom said. Additionally, he can forget about completing the basketball season, as well. Growing up on the ranch in Alabama builds tough boys it seems, because initially, Eric and Courtney Waldrop didn’t realize how badly their oldest son had hurt himself. The caption added:

He fractured his spine during basketball season…He started losing feeling in his legs. Come to find out he has a fracture in his lower spine☹️

The TLC alum explained more, saying that he’s now wearing a “back brace.” Unfortunately for the Sweet Home Sextuplets kid, the young teen will experience a long and slow recovery, “We are grateful that back surgery doesn’t seem to be the outcome of this injury for now,” his mom wrote.

Living With A Back Brace

Saylor Waldrop already wore the back brace for three months, and he’ll be in it for at least another month. However, even after it comes off, Saylor can’t just go back to playing his favorite games.

“Dr. just informed us…absolutely not,” Courtney Waldrop added. “It will still be a slow process of building back the strength in his back,” and if he doesn’t take care, then things could get a lot “worse.” During this challenging period for the Sweet Home Sextuplets family, they are striving to maintain a positive outlook.

Fans React In The Comments

Although the show ended in 2021, over half a million people still follow the family on social media. Many of them expressed their concern about Saylor Waldrop’s spinal injury. Here are a few of those comments:

  • Oh Saylor!! Take good care of yourself. This season in life is preparing you for even better things. Take good care of yourself!
  • Praying for continued healing!! Love your precious family!!
  • Always difficult to watch our kids suffer. Happy he will be healed and healthy again soon, not soon enough, but soon!

While recovery is slow, fortunately, Cleveland Clinic noted, “Even if you need surgery to repair your broken vertebrae, you shouldn’t have any long-term effects from a spinal fracture if your spinal cord isn’t damaged.”
