There were other issues taking place behind the scenes of the show. Initially, Paramount announced that summer 2023 would be the premiere date for Season 5, Part 2 of the Taylor Sheridan-created series.
Earlier this year, fallout happened in line with Kevin Costner’s divorce. The star who plays John Dutton III was only available to film for a week before he appeared in a four-part Western series called Horizon.
Fans were shocked when Paramount announced in May that Season 5 would be the final season. They wanted to continue Dutton’s storyline with Matthew McConaughey.
At the time, Season 5, Part 2 was estimated to premiere in November 2023. Kevin Costner’s messy divorce from Christine Baumgartner outshined the show.
Suddenly, fans were more interested in their split. As a result, he wouldn’t appear in any future Yellowstone episodes. Costner was in talks about appearing on Seasons 6 and 7.
Sources claimed that Paramount learned that Costner planned to sue the production company. He shared the details with a Santa Babarge divorce court judge.
This revelation came out back in September. Paramount is still moving with its plans to film Season 5, Part 2. The network changed the premiere date to November 2024. Fans want another update now that the SAG-AFTRA strike was resolved.
