Technically, those fans who are strongly opposed to Steffy and Liam reuniting will not realize their nightmare. Steffy and Liam will not reunite, except in the embattled mind of Wood’s character.

Steffy is in a fragile physical and mental state. So, it will not be advisable to tell her that she is not thinking clearly. Instead, a plan is projected that will encourage a play-along with Steffy’s viewpoint.
Liam is a heartfelt guy. So, he will understand why it is useful to play along with Steffy for the time being.
But Hope Spencer (Annika Noelle) will naturally be concerned that the lack of an endgame time frame will be too much of a burden for Liam to handle. Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Taylor Hayes (Krista Allen) will sternly disagree about how this soapy matter is handled.

Creating a storyline where Steffy believes she is still married to Liam is a nod to those fans who love that couple, and it is a wink to those who do not want that coupling to reunite because it is not real.
Although, it is fair to speculate that any scenario where Steffy and Liam are together regularly, especially in this type of charged situation, could lead to an unexpected reboot. Yes, that would be a kicker twist if Finn’s death produced a realized revival of Steffy and Liam on B&B instead of a short-lived fantasy-type storyline.
