That specific deal, completed when Ashland was a much younger man many decades ago, was the origin of the Locke Communications Group.

Teasers and Traci Abbott’s (Beth Maitland) new fiction book about her mother’s early days in Paris, France, appeared to combine. It seemed that Ashland and the late Dina Mergeron (Marla Adams) were being teased as a retrospective couple.

Victor and Ashland, in a separate conversation that he had with Victoria, appeared to rule out Dina as the lady in question. The audience learned that this unnamed person died shortly after the transaction.

Doing some daytime math, while also assuming Victor’s obtained intel is accurate, means that Dina wasn’t the seller. She just died last year.

So, unless there’s a reversal or further reveal, the woman Ashland made the deal with doesn’t appear to have been Dina.

Nick told his father that his initial suspicions have been calmed. So, he doesn’t want to go against his sister.

So, Victor’s efforts, with whatever they might unearth, aren’t seen as worthwhile. Assume his investigators find nothing. Then, Victoria will still feel that her father didn’t trust her judgment.

If Victor finds something, short of a major crime, he’ll be opening an old, embarrassing wound. Is that something a dying man should have to deal with while he’s preparing to marry?

Something Worthwhile Must Come Of It

It would seem unusual for Y&R to push the storyline in this particular direction unless a payoff happens. Maybe some upbeat information or a useful connection to the present will be found. But that wouldn’t create drama in the daytime.

Vashland fans are holding their collective breath for Victoria’s sake. Victor feels he must check under every rock to be sure that his daughter isn’t marrying the wrong man or entering into a merger agreement with a con artist.
