As fans recall, Ava was obsessed with Steve for years and tortured Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) to get the man she desired. In fact, it was Steve that warned Rafe about Ava. However, Rafe defended his date and so far, Ava has done pretty well at trying to have a normal relationship.
With Gabi’s words already echoing in Ava’s mind, running into Steve won’t be good timing. He will probably mention all the terrible things she did to him, as well as to Kayla. Both of these things combined could contribute to Ava’s unexpected announcement.

It is teased that Rafe will be blindsided by Ava’s unexpected announcement. Although details have not to be confirmed, it is stated that Ava’s decision will be one that Rafe never expected. It sounds like Ava is going to walk away from her relationship. That will open the door to Rafe and Nicole being together. However, will Nicole even be available or could she already move on with someone new by then?
