EJ does not want Johnny to be a filmmaker because he wants him to work with him at DiMera Enterprises. Johnny was upset by the fact that EJ refused to help him. Johnny ended up meeting Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) after being refused help from EJ. Johnny found himself taken by Chanel. He wants EJ and Allie to know about Chanel.

Johnny may be able to get EJ to accept Chanel by pointing out that she is a serious businesswoman like he is a driven businessman.

Johnny wants to introduce Chanel to Allie. Johnny arranges a double date with him and Chanel and Allie and her boyfriend Tripp Dalton Johnson (Lucas Adams). Johnny does not know that Allie and Chanel already know each other.
Allie is helping Chanel with her bakery. Allie and Chanel have been close. They shared a kiss that stunned them both. Johnny and Chanel have kissed and almost slept together.
