  • Sailing away in 1...2...3! . Who else loves port hole pictures, especially ones taken aboard a Disney ship? 🙋‍♀️ It was seriously the first thing Ava wanted to do before catching lunch at Animator’s Palette. . One tip I would give first time cruisers is to set your ETA early when checking in to your cruise. It gives you more time to enjoy your first day on the ship. We were able to eat lunch, go swimming and unpack in our room before we sailed away. .   • Varanasi is an unbelievably old city that houses so many Hindu temples. I came across this temple while walking to a nearby ghat. It looks so tranquil and glorious despite the construction going on around it. . The government has undertaken a project to revitalize and modernize some parts of the city, including this area in the old part of Varanasi, to widen the streets and make it more accessible for tourists. A lot of these temples were hidden for many years inside of people's houses since open, public Hindu worship rituals were problematic during the Mughal era, and so people built their own personal hidden temples to continue praying and worshipping their Gods in their own private lives.   • I have traveled to countless destinations throughout the world and have had many life-changing experiences on the way. Never have I had an experience quite like visiting Varanasi for the first time. It's hard to put the words together because experiencing it for the first is akin to having a religious awakening - in the subjective mystical sense of the expression. . From the bustling streets where pilgrims wait in designated lanes to see the Golden Temple and bathe in the holy waters of the Ganga for up to 5 hours and more at the height of the Kumbh Mela festival, to the incredible peace evoking oneness with nature and the cosmos permeating the scene on the Ghats and by the Ganga where burning dead bodies co-mingle with cows, pilgrims, tourists and the eternal sky, the scene is set - from an outsider's perspective, the picture is one of euphoric other-worldliness, peaceful and chaotic. The image of burning human bodies in the open, skulls and bones, something so somber and intimidating for many foreigners in Varanasi, feels like the ultimate expression of creation. . Every person that hasn't yet visited this incredible city owes it to himself to come to at least once in his lifetime.
