Dancing with the Stars – Is Robert Irwin The Season’s Front-Runner?

Robert Irwin performed on Dancing with the Stars this week, and the 21-year-old, who partnered with Witney Carson, performed a Jive to Born to Be Wild by Steppenwolf. How did the brother of Mirrorball Trophy winner, Bindi do? Read on to find out.
A Perfect Song For Robert
Ahead of the DWTS premiere, the son of the late Steve Irwin, famously known as the Crocodile Hunter, stopped to honor his father at his Hollywood Walk of Fame star. Everyone knows that Robert follows in his dad’s footsteps and is a force to be reckoned with in wildlife conservation. So, the song seemed perfect for him.

Well, he’s also a generous and kind person, and when Dancing with the Stars pro-dancer Witney Carson shared the news that her relative lost a baby, he quickly stepped up alongside his sister Bindi, and his mom, Terri Irwin to help with funeral costs. Naturally, ABC fans rooted for him on the show.
How Did He Do?
Robert Irwin was so excited to perform on the celebrity dancing competition. Not only does he have memories of Bindi winning, but he watched the influencer perform a decade ago. The personable young man has many fans, and they reacted very well to his premiere performance. So did Derek Hough who opined that the Jive was “probably the best first dance I have ever seen on this show.”
The duo scored 15 out of 20 possible marks, rivaled only by Whitney Leavitt and Mark Ballas, who received an incorrect score of eight instead of seven when Bruno Tonioli made an electronic error. So, the two popular stars tied in the premiere.
Fans React To The Performance
When ABC aired Robert’s performance, many people reacted positively to the young man from the Australian Zoo. One commenter wrote, “Robert did so good! I’m impressed! Witney is going to make him shine this season. This was such a fun dance!”
Here are a few more reactions that show Irwin’s got talent and popularity with the voters:
- Genuinely sooooo impressed!! I LOVED this dance sooo much!
- He did so good! I think we have our winners.
- Sooo freaking good!
He has so much potential! His personality matched the song/dance perfectly, really want him to win! - that was insane, I had a feeling he could dance, but he looks like he’s been dancing his whole life!!!
- Shows over, I’m calling it, There’s your Winners right there!! Great work Robert.
On The Way To The Mirrorball
Some Dancing with the Stars fans enjoyed the performance so much that they even outdid Derek Hough’s praise. One of them penned:
That’s was so fun and amazing his pointed feet everything. That performance was truly spectacular! Fabulous, fantastic. Wouldn’t it be cool if he also wins the mirror ball 10 years after his sister. I hope he wins this season.
