Gus Lamont, Missing Outback Child Updates

Gus Lamont is still not found - 7News Australia - YouTube

The police and army ended their search for four-year-old Gus Lamont, who disappeared from a homestead in a remote area of Australia in September. Well, that doesn’t mean they gave up trying to locate his presumably dead body. And a new update reveals that his grandmother threatened a reporter with a gun.

The Threat Dismissed By Police

Despite giving up on finding Gus alive, authorities went off to write up reports and study data, but they remained committed to trying to find the young boy. He’d allegedly been playing in a red sand pile when his grandmother lost sight of him for half an hour. Yet, despite huge searches and the use of technology, they had to abandon the search and the hope that he might be alive.

7 News Australia reported that police returned to the remote homestead and started emptying a pond of water. Already checked out, they wanted to be certain he hadn’t drowned. While that was going on, reporters mostly dwindled away, but a “tabloid reporter” went onto the property.

There, they were confronted by an armed grandmother who threatened to get an arrest by the cops. A video footage showed her carrying a weapon. However, a police spokesperson wrote it off as her merely having the gun to kill “a snake” on the porch. In fact they threatened “to take action” against any future trespassers.

Aggressive Attitude

Perhaps the grandmother was aggressive because of police and public scrutiny. There have been a lot of clickbait stories and speculation that Gus Lamont was not there when they reported him missing. One rumor surfaced that the child had been trafficked. And, a neighbor allegedly claimed she saw someone take the child away.

As people find it hard to believe a child could just disappear, theories pop up all over the place. Still, the kid hasn’t been found and the story’s not going away any time soon.

Reactions To Unreliable Updates

Like many other news sites, comments were turned off, so nobody could react to the clash between the reporter and the grandmother of Gus. However, plenty of other unverified sites keep the story alive. When the rumored story about a neighbor seeing Gus being taken away arrived, lots of folks still had speculation to talk about.

One person opined, “Following the story from Scotland UK praying for wee Gus to be found alive.. I don’t trust that grandmother one bit!”

However, others complained because the clickbait title spoke about someone seeing the child being taken away, but the video coverage didn’t mention that at all.

So, another person wrote, “So where’s the breaking news that a neighbour saw them take him away??”

Here are a few more responses:

  • WHY ARE THESE REPORTERS TALKING VOMIT[?]
  • Clickbait!
  • Click bait BS!
  • This video is so annoying.
