The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Cane and Phyllis Try To Outsmart Each Other — But Both May Lose Everything

The Young and The Restless: Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford)

The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) has his money, for now. Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) believes she holds power, but it’s temporary.

Cane’s plan, which his late father fostered, intended to take control of Genoa City, Wisconsin’s two main legacy companies. However, Phyllis’ theft of the artificial intelligence weapon created by Cane’s devious computer programmers instantly eliminated his ability to follow through on the promise he made to Lily Winters (Christel Khalil).

Meanwhile, Phyllis thinks she can outmaneuver Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). Yet, the deal he accepted from her, to take possession of the AI program, will create intense blowback if she’s set him up.

Phyllis Summers Didn’t Take Yes For An Answer

Cane told Phyllis that he wanted her on his team. But he demanded loyalty and deserved that based on the secrecy of the mission he was attempting to accomplish.

But she regularly battled with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) when both people were part of Cane’s two-person, GC-based executive staff. Phyllis was unable to take direction and thought she could push Cane to work at the pace she wanted, rather than follow her employer’s wishes. Billy behaved more badly than she and was summarily fired.

Phyllis took Cane’s decision not to move forward with Arabesque’s plans to use the AI weapon to take hostile control of Newman Enterprises and Jabot as a personal slight. It wasn’t that, yet she used that perception to fuel her illegal theft of his business property.

The Young and The Restless: Lily Winters (Christel Khalil)

Lily Winters Is Still The One And Only

Cane loves Lily and has been working for years to regain her trust. He finally crossed a threshold when she agreed to take the AI program and destroy it.

Lily implied that she would be impressed by his demonstration of actually changing course. The expectation was that she would then be open to considering him again.

So, the idea that Cane has suddenly become romantically interested in Phyllis or is using her as a diversion from Lily is foolish. He’s likely, if not certainly, playing along with her deceptive demeanor in an attempt to prove she’s the thief who stole the AI program and then traded it to Victor.

Cane Ashby Could Pursue Criminal Charges

Cane has a different demeanor than when viewers last saw him. With a wink to the character’s original debut many years ago, when he was initially embodied by Daniel Goddard (Cane), and considering the effect Colin Atkinson’s (Tristan Rogers) quest for redemption had on him, viewers get the current flow.

Flynn’s edition of Cane wants Lily to be his wife again. The forced Aristotle Dumas reveals that Victor had Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) digitally distribute to the world, causing an alienation of the Ashby twins. So, Cane is intent on healing those wounds as well.

Separately, Cane will surely seek payback if he confirms Phyllis’ theft and deals with Victor. It would seem Cane would have the right to seek criminal charges against her as well, though legal scrutiny would likely put him in focus as well.
