On Thursday, October 9, HBO finally reveals its next Game of Thrones show, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. They’ll debut the first full trailer at a major New York Comic Con panel. However, some fans vent because other teasers were simply fake, AI-generated clips that angered a lot of people.

Why The Anger?

So far, only Rotten Tomatoes revealed a tiny bit of genuine footage of the new show. It showed Dunk and Egg sharing a funny moment while spying on a camp. In it, one of the boys said, “I think I could be happy in a place like this.” And the reply came, “You’re in a place like this.”

Teaser Universe  and Teaser Fox dropped AI trailers. The fine print mentioned they were concept videos, but not everyone reads the fine print when they eagerly await footage about Game of Thrones stories. And notably, the sites are YouTube verified with that precious tick.

In the comments section, an angry fan wrote, “Stop using AI to try and make dunk and egg seem epic its not that kind of story.”

Here are a few more reactions:

  • THIS!!…Should be ILLEGAL and FLAGGED.
  • Oh was hoping for the official trailer.
  • I kept thinking to myself “this looks like sh*t” until I realised the truth.

The Synopsis Shows The Real Mood

It’s not long until the real trailer drops for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Like the previous GOT series, it’s based on the works of George R.R. Martin. The series stars Peter Claffey as the knight Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) and Dexter Sol Ansell as his young squire, Prince Aegon Targaryen (Egg).

A prequel set roughly a century before the original Game of Thrones, it looks like it will be a character-focused adventure. Plus, expect a smaller story compared to the huge wars in Thrones or House of the Dragon.

More About The Series

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will run for six episodes and folks can tune in for the premiere on HBO and Max in January next year. Of course, before then, probably interviews with the cast and crew will arrive. And more teasers, plus a full trailer should also appear online.

However, for now, many folks just think that the AI concept fakery might damage the show before it even starts. GOT was tremendously successful and ran for years. Tyrion Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen, Arya Stark, and Jon Snow became everyday memes on social media. Britannica.com reminded viewers:

[GOT] became one of the most acclaimed programs of all time. A critical darling and cultural phenomenon, the series had a profound effect on American television and the fantasy genre because of its complex characters, its focus on political intrigue, and its dark, even bleak, approach.

The message from fans about the AI-generated concept trailers seems very clear: ‘Don’t mess with our favorite fantasies.’ What are your thoughts? Sound off in the comments below, and remember to come back here often for all your entertainment news and updates.
