Finally finding their way into each other’s arms, fans were happy to see Robert settling down again — and we all know Diane deserves to find love.
But is that what she’s found with the District Attorney? Robert just doesn’t seem to understand Diane. Around every turn, these two are rumored to be headed for certain death.
No, not that kind of death. But their budding union is preparing to meet its demise — and some say the cause of death is going to be famed mobster Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).

Robert just can’t get over Diane’s commitment to a career criminal. Likewise, Diane can’t stomach the way Robert salivates over the idea of locking Sonny up for the rest of his life.
Uttering the words that Sonny is one of her best friends was difficult for Robert to comprehend while being so easy for Diane to usher into their already-tense conversation. As she continues to enforce boundaries in their relationship that Robert views as petty demands, he just may tire of bending to her will soon.
GH Spoilers Hint the Ship Already Sailed
Fans are lamenting all over social media that Robert and Diane just aren’t the couple they thought they would be. We had high hopes in the beginning.
In fact, we were quite annoyed when Robert got wrapped up with Holly Sutton (Emma Samms) all over again — distracting him from the formidable attorney who was vying for his attention.
It made us feel for Diane, but it seems like the woman can’t lay down her arms. She doesn’t know how to be vulnerable or let Robert make mistakes and learn the right way to love her. It just isn’t working. We’re not feeling it.
General Hospital Spoilers — It Was Always Someone Else
Speaking of Holly, she was far from the only distraction that got in the way of Robert romancing Diane. Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) has played a pretty good role in that department, too — however inadvertently.
Still, Diane stuck around and continued to be a doormat, giving Robert chance after chance to prove she would be a priority to him. Now that he’s giving her that, she keeps raising the bar — expecting him to accept the criminal he’s been chasing for his entire career as her friend.
It would be different if Diane wasn’t aware of Robert’s disgust for Sonny before they got together, but how could she not? It seems these two are destined to burn out, and the fans are now hoping it happens sooner rather than later. How do you see this ending?
