Doubling Down With The Derricos premiered in May for another season, and fans loved seeing more of the large family. However, it seems perilously close to being canceled. Why is that? Is it just a rumor? Deon, Karen, GiGi, and the multiple multiples of kids will be sorely missed if the TLC network pulls the sow.
Doubling Down With The Derricos Is Family Friendly
Right from the beginning of the first episode in 2020, people loved tuning in to see Karen and Deon raise their children. Possibly, because the ages of the cast range from toddlers through to Grandma GiGi, almost everyone found someone they could relate to. Often, there were tough times, like when triplet Dawsyn got the coronavirus and she had a hole in her heart. Then, there were serious times like grandma’s battle with cancer. But always, there were smiles and good cheer.
There seemed to be no keeping down the kids. No matter what happened, they were singing and dancing. Or, just lit because they could be. TLC fans followed the Doubling Down With The Derricos family through their schooling, summer camps, college admission, vacations, and lost babies. Never dull, and always about appreciating the value of life, fans won’t be happy if it goes away.
Doubling Down With The Derricos Canceled?
This week TV Shows Ace reported that Deon took to his Instagram stories and asked fans to participate in a “TLC survey.” Apparently, there’s a convenient place to let the network know your viewing preferences. Presumably, the network doesn’t have people combing social media to learn the likes and dislikes of fans. In his post, he mentioned that “For reasons outside of us our ratings were low, and DDWTD will possibly not be returning.” Shocked fans seem horrified at the bad news. The petition was set up by someone named Kay Lynn who asked Doubling Down With The Derricos fans not to “donate money.” The entire purpose is to get signatures so the show can continue. Relating to why the show “helps” people, she also posted a lot of anecdotes about the positive effects of the show on her own family. Additionally, she believes, “This family deserves to stay on television for a long time! Why? It’s fulfilling to have a family-friendly show that addresses the issues of today.”
