The General Hospital (GH) fans noticed there aren’t enough strong women in Port Charles. They want to know where they all went lately.
The ABC daytime soap could use more female characters who can stand up for themselves. Keep reading to learn more.
General Hospital Spoilers – Where Are The Strong Women?
The user Dona440 asked on the SoapCentral.com Message Boards: “What happened to the strong women on GH??? I have noticed that all the women on GH have been dumbed down and reduced to supporting the men.”
The current female characters are no longer the strong women they once were. For example, Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) cries a lot and asks for help. Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) is also a teary-eyed mess who asks for favors from Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison).
Ever since Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) left PCPD, she just sits around and supports Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner). Meanwhile, all Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) and Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) do is sit around and cry over losing Curtis. Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) can’t think of anything else but think about Dex Heller (Evan Hofer).
“WTH happened to these women? Writers — COME ON!” the original poster continued. “These were all spunky kick-a** women that were the stars of the show, in my opinion. GIVE THEM BACK THEIR MOJO and their lives and situations!!!”
The GH fans took to the thread to sound off. Most of them are tired of the female characters latching onto men. They would like to see more strong women on the show.
As GH fans already know, daytime soaps are archaic and write their storylines as if these characters are back in the 1950s.
“It’s pretty misogynist and very throwback to the way things used to be on soaps, decades ago, but it’s a huge turn-off in 2023,” one fan noted.
Does General Hospital Need Strong Women?
General Hospital fans are trying to come up with the remaining strong women in Port Charles. One fan noted that Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) is still a strong woman.
She doesn’t need a man to support her. Elizabeth is a busy nurse who’s focused on taking care of her patients.
Some GH fans argued that Carly and Josslyn have become strong on their own. Others believe that Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy), Laura Spencer (Genie Francis), and Olivia Maria Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) are still all very strong women.
The rest of the characters are a hot mess.
