The Young And The Restless Star Melissa Ordway Struck With COVID, Celebrates The Emmys Her Way

Melissa Ordway

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers and updates tease that star Melissa Ordway was nominated for her first-ever Daytime Emmy this year in the Outstanding Supporting Actress category but had to miss the big event on Friday night after testing positive for COVID-19, along with co-star Jason Thompson, who was also up for an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor.

Two Young And The Restless Spoilers – Performers Down With COVID

Both Ordway (Abby Newman Chancellor) and Thompson (Billy Abbott) had recently traveled to and from Monte Carlo to promote CBS soaps at the Monte Carlo TV festival. Stars from The Bold and the Beautiful also traveled with them, but Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy Forrester), Tanner Novlan (John ‘Finn’ Finnegan), Thorsten Kaye (Ridge Forrester), and Krista Allen (Taylor Hayes) have yet to say whether they also contracted COVID.

Ordway and Thompson ultimately lost in their respective categories, with Outstanding Supporting Actress going to General Hospital’s Kelly Thiebaud (Britt Westbourne) and Outstanding Actor going to The Bold and the Beautiful’s John McCook (Eric Forrester). If Thompson had won, it would have been his second Emmy after taking home the gold when the Emmys were virtual in 2020.

The Young And The Restless Updates – Melissa Ordway Celebrates Anyway

Being struck with COVID, but also being asymptomatic, Ordway decided to celebrate at home anyway, so she, husband Justin Gaston (who subbed as Chance Chancellor in 2021), and their daughters, Sophie and Olivia, got all dressed up anyway and had an Emmy celebration at home.

“When you’re nominated for a #daytimeemmys award but can’t go to the show… you put your dress on, do your makeup and order some dresses for the girls off @amazon and have your own little party ✨ GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE NOMINEES!!!! Wish I could be there!” Ordway posted to Instagram, next to a series of photos of herself in a stunning hot pink dress, as well as her dressed-up hubby and little girls.

Ordway also posted a video of her getting ready for the fancy evening at home where she cheered on her co-stars and congratulated everyone who won.

“A last-minute @amazonfashion order of press-on nails, a ponytail extension, and some kids dress let us have our own little red carpet event. Thank you @jmichaelgaston for making it a special night. And for braiding my hair 😂😘.” Thankful for my incredible family. Congratulations to all the winners!!!!!!
