The Young And The Restless (Y&R) Spoilers: Phyllis Has Enough – Nick Is The Problem

The Young And The Restless: Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford)

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers and updates tease that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) tolerated the behavior and comments before, during, and for a short while after the trip to Italy. But Nick Newman’s (Joshua Morrow) actions and words are misdirected when he aims them at Phyllis.

While she has often been the cause of drama on Y&R and within the couple known as Phick, Phyllis is not the villain this time around. Nick is.

It is not that Nick has wronged Phyllis or betrayed her trust. Instead, he is taking her love for granted and pushing his luck too far through his behavior.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Jack Abbott Is The Rebound?

Phyllis and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) have grown closer lately, but there is no intention on either person’s part to revive Phack. Jack respects Nick to such a great degree that he went to him and admitted to telling Phyllis that he still cares for her deeply.

Stafford’s character was thrown when her one-time husband told her that he loves her while adding a modifier. Jack said that he knew she and Nick were committed to each other.

Jack’s candor was an honest reflection of where he is at this stage of his life. Phyllis was moved by his words and quickly overcame her discomfort when learning that his torch still burned.

The Young And The Restless Updates – Nick Newman Thinks Himself Into A Box

Nick is overly analytical. He thinks too much because of the intensity of the stress being a Newman represents.

However, Nick’s need to blame his dad for any major or minor issue that arises is an old act. Phyllis makes no soapy bones about how she dislikes all things, Newman, except for Nick and his children, and includes their daughter Summer Newman Abbott (Hunter King).

All was flowing smoothly with Phyllis this time. So it feels like Nick needed to create the drama because that is the environment he is used to. But venturing down this path could provoke consequences that are at least damaging.

Phyllis Summers Must Make A Choice

Stafford’s latest turn, as part of her fabulous (also Emmy-awarded) stints on the show, is different than the others. Creative scripts, in the hands of exceptional daytime actors, produce fresh content even though the character’s history is long and well-known.

Phyllis fell back in love with Nick after she returned from Las Vegas, Nevada, a few years ago. That development was part of Y&R’s recast, as Daytime Emmy Award winner and great actor Gina Tognoni (Phyllis) was replaced by the original actor who first played this role and made Phyllis famous.

Nick told Phyllis that they are okay and that he just needed a few days in London with Noah Newman (new recast, Rory Gibson) to clear his head. But then additional tension is seen in Genoa City, Wisconsin.

Phyllis is moving to a plot point where she needs to make a choice. Nick needs to wise up or risk losing her. Will she return to Jack then? That is just another reason to watch Y&R.
