Disney Wants to Give Bambi a CGI Makeover

Disney is interested in a Bambi CGI remake, but its audiences aren’t. People want the live-action trend to die. It appears that the company doesn’t know what to do next. So, it relies heavily on its vault to remake another classic.

As Variety reported, the entertainment studio wants to do a live-action remake of its 1942 classic Bambi. The film will use computer animation, similar to what was used in The Jungle Book and The Lion King. Disney has other live-action films in the works, according to the report. It has already released remakes of Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Dumbo, and Lady and the Tramp.

Disney Is Interested In A Bambi CGI Remake

Captain Marvel writers Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Lindsey Beer are on board for this live-action remake. The classic movie told the tale of Bambi, the prince of the forest, as he learns to navigate the animal kingdom on his own.

It’s a come of age story that shows the deer becoming friends with the various forest animals. He also deals with the tragic loss of his mother, who was shot by a hunter. Some parents and psychologists felt that the classic movie was too traumatic for children to watch. It’ll be interesting to see how this film will play out in the new world.

Bambi could become a box office hit. Last year’s live-action version of The Lion King became Disney’s highest-grossing remake ever even though it was panned by critics. It earned $533 million domestically and $1.6 billion worldwide.

Tim Burton’s Remake Of Dumbo Was Bashed By Critics

However, Tim Burton’s remake of Dumbo was bashed by critics and earned $114 million in North America alone. The movie was made on a $170 million budget. In addition, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil only made a cool $114 million in the U.S. It also failed to earn back its estimated $500 million overall budget, even though it had a decent premiere overseas.

Disney was once a magical company that was rich with storytelling. Each generation fell in love with a certain move that had fresh characters and storylines. Examples of successful animated movies include Coco, Moana, and the first Frozen.

But those fresh movies and stories are few and far between. Maybe the new Bambi will be rehashed with some CGI. But it’ll be better than Cats and Doolittle. What are your thoughts on a Bambi remake? Sound off below in the comments section.
