My Conception Journey: Will I learn I’m Pregnant this Month?
My conception journey continues!
Last month, I revealed in a blog post that my husband and I had decided to expand our family for the second time. We sat down and thought about it seriously and came to the conclusion it was the right choice for us and our 4-year-old daughter, Ava. My daughter is a child well suited for a sibling and she actually wants one because her best friend has a younger sister.
The only thing that was holding me back from starting the conception journey was my worry of not being able to adjust to two children. On many occasions I found myself questioning if it was possible to love another child as much as I do my daughter. I realized their were actually a lot of other mothers who had asked this same question and it was a natural fear. The best advice I received was that becoming a mom again doesn’t mean you have to split the love you have for your first child with the second. The love in your heart actually doubles and a whole new area opens for your other child.
The conception process just started for us, so like most couple we’re hoping the journey will be short! In a few days, I will find out if we conceived or not after trying for a month. If our conception journey is the same as last time than I will be reading a positive pregnancy test next week! With our daughter Ava, we got pregnant on our first try! Obviously, I wouldn’t complain if we had a repeat of the first conception.
Unfortunately, not all couples are as lucky as us when it comes to conceiving their first bundle of joy. It takes a lot of couples months to conceive and some even years. That’s why it’s important to do simple things to insure the actual process of trying conceive is done under the best conditions. For example, when trying to conceive it is vital to provide an environment where sperm has a chance of survival. Environmental conditions are affected by pH levels, osmolality (the concentration of substances like sodium and potassium) and the consistency of egg white cervical mucus. Many couples don’t realize the lubricant they’re using may affect these conditions and inhibit sperm motility.
Astroglide TTC Trying to Conceive™, a lubricant made for couples trying to conceive is actually proven to compatible with sperm, oocytes and embryos. It is specially formulated to support fertility with adjusted pH levels, compatible osmolality and a consistency similar to your body’s cervical mucus, which make the sperm move more freely.
Astroglide TTC doesn’t take the fun out of trying to conceive either! It’s just as easy to use as other lubricants. Each package contains 8 pre-filled disposable applicators that make it easy to coat the inside of the vagina while supplementing natural fluids and enhancing comfort. Additionally, Astroglide TTC temporarily relieves vaginal dryness during sexual activity.
