From Bottle to Sippy Cup

From Bottle to Sippy Cup

I can’t believe Baby C is 6 months old already! Time is flying by! We went to Baby C’s 6 month check-up and he’s gained 10 lbs and grown 8 inches since birth! He’s at the 98% percentile for height which is almost half of my height! My little pumpkin is growing up too fast!

It’s funny because I don’t want him to growing up so fast but my husband can’t wait him for him to get bigger so that he can run around or throw a baseball with him.

At his 6 month check-up, our pediatrician told us to start using a sippy cup at meals. We gave him a spout cup and the first few days I was a worried mama. I had a lot of concerns that he wouldn’t be interested in nursing if we started the sippy cup or the water would come out too fast since he’s still on a level 2 (3 month) bottle nipple.

The Philips Avent spout cup was perfect for him! The mouth piece is rubbery, not hard plastic so he needs to suck on it for water to come up. No spills even when he tries to hold the cup himself and flip it around. I also love the fact that you can buy just the silicone spouts so that you can easily replace it – great for my teething baby who likes to chew on it.

Now we bring his spout cup everywhere! When we go out to restaurants we bring it with us so he can be a big boy and drink from it while he watches us drink from our cups! It’s a great transitional spout cup for my growing…dare I say it, “toddler”…

By the way, the homemade baby food is going well. My husband bought me a baby food puree book and mini food processor for an early Mother’s Day present. Needless to say, I’ve been trying to puree everything in our kitchen! We started with sweet potatoes then avocados and we’ve also fed him yams, apples and pears. I mix them with the Happy Family Happy Bellies Brown Rice and my milk. He loves it and has a great appetite like his mommy and daddy!
