Troubled Teen Mom 2 Star Jenelle Evans Opens Up About Drug Abuse, Admits “I Scare Myself”
MTV seems to require one of three things before casting for their reality shows: potentials must use drugs, have fundamentally unhealthy relationships, or be short-tempered and quick to violence. Unfortunately, Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans lived up to all of those expectations during her first two years of filming, and was often in and out of court. She and now ex-boyfriend Kieffer Delp were often violent towards each other, and his substance abuse did nothing to keep her on the court-ordered road to sobriety. A now sober Jenelle sat down with Wetpaint Entertainment to reflect on her life since her son Jace was born.
“I needed to be controlled and put to a stop for me to see what was going on in my life. You think you’re doing OK, but really you’re not. You’re spiraling out of control. You’re out of control.” Jenelle was often seen fighting with her mother, Barbara Evans, who has custody of her son. Jenelle often struggled to spend more time with Jace, but fights with Barbara sent her spiraling back towards drugs and violent outbursts.
“I needed someone to stop me in my tracks,” she explained. “And that’s what my probation officer did. She was a blessing in disguise. Some of the stuff I see myself doing on TV, I scare myself. Because I’m like, why would I do that? Why would I say something like that? And now I’m not as impulsive as I was before. Now I don’t need someone there telling me what’s right and wrong.”
We hope that this season of Teen Mom 2, which premiers Monday, November 12th on MTV, will show a Jenelle who is working hard to get her life back on track. She’s often talked about going to school and regaining custody of Jace, and this season promises to show that and more. Will you tune in?
