Shakira Says Her Son Milan Taught Her To Appreciate The Little Moments
Prior to motherhood, Shakira fully acknowledged she wasn’t prone to slowing down and enjoying the moments (both big and small) in life. Shakira knew she was a workaholic but she knew she couldn’t continue being a workaholic with the arrival of baby Milan last year. Her son recently turned 1-year-old on January 22 and she was glad that she didn’t miss a thing.
“Maybe the biggest change is that I think about the future more, what the world will be like for him when he grows up. But when it comes to living, it’s all about the present,” Shakira, 36, says. “I’m finally able to really savor all of those little moments that, in the early days of my career, I was too busy thinking about the next thing to just stop, take it all in, and enjoy.”
Still no one should count Shakira out of the music business just yet. The singer wants to keep reaching new heights with her music. Minus that small little gig you’ve may have heard of – The Voice – Shakira also has an album coming out this March.
The sound is going to be different than what we usual hear from the Latin soultress. Her new sounds are based on what she calls the happiest phase of her life, Milan. He has inspired her to experiment with what else is out there. Although we love her as she is, a collaboration with Rihanna certainly does hold an appeal.
What do you think about Shakira’s reaction to parenthood? Does a baby tend to lead to their parents’ rebirth?
