What a beautiful way to kick off the festive season as Prince William took Prince George to The Passage, a homeless charity based in Victoria. The royal pair came in to offer a hand amid the Christmas rush. Plus, it gave royal family watchers a  glimpse of the giving spirit from the palace.

A Sweet Video

The Prince and Princess of Wales uploaded a charming behind-the-scenes video from the day on their official YouTube account on Saturday. In the footage, the charity’s boss, Mick Clarke, was full of praise for George’s attitude:

We were getting ready for the Christmas lunch for around 150 people and there was a ton of work to be done. So, the core of the thing was, are you ready to roll up your sleeves, get stuck in? … and he very much was very much like his father, actually, just wanted to get stuck in and help.

Clarke seemed  emotionally moved that the visit by young George was so low-profile. “A lovely kid is is how I would describe him,” he shared. “And, just really seemed very interested in terms of the work that we do and particularly talking to people who have used our services. “

A Beautiful Full-Circle Moment

This wasn’t an ordinary outing because it was a trip down memory lane for Prince William. When he was only 11, his mother, the late Princess Diana, took him to the same charity. Now, years later, William is giving his son the same valuable lesson in empathy.

Most charming, was the moment Prince George took time to sign the visitor book. On the visitor book page that his father and grandmother had signed years ago, he wrote his name, which seemed like a family gesture that means a lot.

Teaching The Next Generation

Clearly, William is intent on educating his children about life outside their bubble and giving back. Seeing George so eager to chip in is proof that these family morals are catching. It’s a great reminder for all of us this Christmas: the best way to celebrate is by helping others.

Notably, his mom, Princess Catherine also reaches out to charities this festive season. She paid a visit to a memorial garden event to remember cancer victims and their families.

Additionally, her own family arrived at her annual Christmas carol concert, reminding folks that the season is about family and the less fortunate.
