Gus Lamont, Missing Outback Child – Search Ends

Gus Lamont, 4, disappeared from a sheep station in late September, and it’s been three weeks since any trace of him was seen. In our recent update on the search, we noted police in South Australia scaled back the search. Since then the news arrived that the search has now ended.
The Search Ends
A last ditch effort to find Gus came after the police scaled back, and the army was sent in. However, that came to an end after a day or so, and now the search teams have gone home according to 7 News Australia.

The report on Youtube noted that “Over four days, 80 soldiers searched 95 square kilometres on foot, covering up to 25 kilometres daily within a 5.5-kilometre radius of the family homestead.”
In total, vast resources were poured into the search for the child who was apparently playing in a sandpit near the home where his grandma was. Half an hour after he was last seen, he was nowhere to be found. The search took weeks, but finally, the heat and unsuccessful efforts have drawn the hunt to a close.
What’s Next?
According to the South Australian Police, they haven’t closed the missing person case. However, they intend to continue trying to find closure for the family. Perhaps they moved from searching into a potential investigation as to how a child could simply disappear.
Notably, no suspects have been named, despite a lot of speculation that there could be a criminal element. Even if there is a suspicion by the law enforcement folks, they aren’t talking about it. At the moment, a lot of media outlets now limit their comments. Possibly, that’s because of all the conspiracy theorists across the world.
A Dysfunctional Family
The public talked about how the news dribbled out about the family. Allegedly, there were many signs of trouble between Gus Lamont’s dad, Joshua, and the grandparents. He had some issues with their lifestyle, and worked elsewhere.

Apparently, he used to be a country singer but that probably bears no relation to his son’s disappearance. Conflicting reports seem vague about the whereabouts of the mom of Gus. Notably, she hasn’t been shown much in video and photographic footage.
Hoping For A Miracle?
While the police obviously hope for a nice outcome, they can’t keep throwing resources indefinitely into a search in such a harsh outback environment. For now, the best outcome could be some sort of miracle. And, many people still hope for that. Perhaps he’ll be spotted by someone somewhere else?
However, it seems entirely unlikely, and according to law enforcement, it’s doubtful that Gus Lamont remains alive.
The very sad outcome seems unlikely to get any updates soon, but stay tuned because if we hear anything else that verifiable, we’ll be sure to let you know. Notably, there are plenty of clickbait stories out there about untrue developments.
