Madison Prewett, who ABC fans met on The Bachelor Season 24 with Peter Weber, just got ripped by fans, and her husband Grant Troutt also faced backlash on social media. Read on to find out why many people reacted with fury.
Madison was a Christian, and she wanted to keep things pure. So, she broke up with Peter Weber after his exploits in the Fantasy Suites. Later, they reconnected, much to his mother’s horror. But it didn’t last and they split. Eventually, she married Grant Troutt, a pastor from a wealthy family. They welcomed their first child, Hosanna Rose, six months ago.
During a recent Stay True podcast on YouTube, the couple revealed they intend to physically discipline their daughter as she grows older. Using the Bible as a reference, Madison and Grant talked about how Scripture mentions using “the rod.” So, spanking is definitely on the cards.
Madison Prewett said, “It’s going to be in a really loving way. ‘Like, ‘Hey sweetheart, do you know why you’re being disciplined? Mommy does not want to discipline you. Mommy does not enjoy having to spank you.'” But there are consequences to disobedience.”
Grant Troutt agreed, stating, “[Hosanna Rose] is going to get a little bit.” The conversation came up after Madison went on about how when her baby girl “screams uncontrollably,” she wants to react by yelling. But then, she looks “up to the Lord,” who helps her calm down.
Although the podcast happened three weeks ago, people are so angry, that comments have been pouring in continuously, right up through this weekend: especially after Madison Prewett spoke about how she believes God is guiding her. Grant admitted, “Maddie and I will discipline Hosanna out of emotion sometimes,” before excusing himself by saying it’s because he’s “flawed” as a human.
Well, it seems Bachelor fans agree on one thing: He is flawed. The furious comments showed both anger and disgust. One viewer wrote on Friday:
Spanking is the most undisciplined form of discipline. Yes, I’m a Christian. You still have a chance to grow and change. God gives you the choice of discernment. You don’t have to stay ignorant forever. Discipline is important for children, but there’s nothing loving about hitting a child with any amount of force to get them to do what you want them to.
