‘How To Train Your Dragon’ Doing Well On Father’s Day?

How To Train Your Dragon was a buzzworthy movie for families to put on their watchlist this year, and it seems to be doing very well. The weekend hasn’t even finished yet, and it already netted a lot of viewers. Read on for more.

The Movie Has Competition

Other movies with appeal for kids of all ages that compete with the Dragon franchise include Lilo & Stitch, the animated sci-fi, Elio, and A Minecraft Movie. Well, the one movie specifically pointed towards a Father’s Day weekend opening is doing very well so far.

Other Movies In June

Lionsgate’s Ballerina is another John Wick movie that probably suits older kids and teens, as well a their parents. It’s also looking good in June. It premiered in theaters a week ago and it generated “$2.2M” on Friday with “an estimated $9M in weekend 2.” Other competition comes from Mission: Impossible Final Reckoning.

Father’s Day weekend isn’t all about watching movies, but it seems to be popular. Often, family activities include going out for a meal, or taking a short vacation. Alternatively, if you are lucky enough to live at the beach, spend a day messing about in the sea and sand.

What Else Is Good For The Weekend?

Gift-giving is always fun for the kids, even if Dad gets some odd presents. But even that’s not necessarily what it’s about. Plenty of people enjoy sitting at home outdoors with the BBQ on the go and friends to chat with while the kids play.

Other ideas include an outing to play fun gold, staying in for some good old-fashioned card games, or sitting down in front of the TV for a binge-watch of a favorite show.

Watching Old Movies With Dad

Historically, movies have always been popular. If you are feeling sentimental, maybe the family can sit down and watch some old movies from Dad’s younger years. Popular movies from yesteryear include Mrs. Doubtfire from the 1990s.

Going further back, there is Field of Dreams, which highlighted family heritage. Or you could watch Parenthood, which brought an entertaining generational take on family life starring Steve Martin.
