2025 has a nice lineup of adult movies, but kids’ movies have not been forgotten, and at least three of them should be on your watchlist. Read on for premiere dates and more information.
You can’t really go wrong with Disney when it comes to kids, and Lilo & Stitch will premiere on May 23, 2025. The live-action remake keeps the key elements you loved. Lilo, a spirited and unique young girl living in Hawaii, returns with Stitch, the mischievous and genetically engineered alien experiment who crash-lands into her life.
What’s particularly exciting for fans is the promise that the CGI used to bring Stitch to life will strive to stay true to his original, quirky design.
We can anticipate seeing how their unlikely friendship blossoms, teaching them both about “ohana” – the Hawaiian concept of family. Of course, it wouldn’t be Lilo & Stitch without some hilarious mayhem caused by Stitch’s unpredictable nature and the pursuit by those who want to recapture him.
Universal’s How to Train Your Dragon is another remake, and it premieres on June 13, 2025. Dean DeBlois, who directed the original, ensures a great time is had by the audience. The movie returns with Mason Thames starring as Hiccup.
Fans who saw the trailer loved it. One of them wrote, “This is probably the most live-action movie of all. Every shot, per shot, was like the animated version.” Here are a few more comments:
Elio, adds to the list of kids’ movies that arrive in June and kids of all ages will probably love the movie. Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures bring an animated sci-fi with Elio Solis, (Yonas Kibreab) an 11 year old boy. Besotted with all things space, he ends up being beamed up to the Comuniverse. To his shock, he finds himself appointed as the Intergalactic Ambassador for planet Earth.
Fans who saw the trailer liked that characterization seemed relatable. One commenter wrote, “Pixar still know how to create relatable characters. We all have those days where we feel like an outsider because people don’t understand you and I see that through Elio. Also, the voices of Elio and Glordon sound cute.”
