Nature conservation sits on the radar right now as recently, World Wildlife Day was celebrated internationally. Costa Rica, a popular vacation destination, offers more than pretty scenery and wildlife. It can also add value to your break in nature. Read on to find out more.
Did you know that you can volunteer to work with the Kids Saving the Rainforest (KSTR), a nonprofit organisation in Costa Rica? And, it’s not limited to adults who volunteer for months on end. Kids between the ages of seven and 17 can also participate, even if just for a day.
A Canadian conservationist and reality TV star from Bachelor Nation, Blake Moynes, follows KSTR on social media, and he wouldn’t put his endorsement on anything that doesn’t benefit the environment. Bear in mind, awareness about the conservation of the Earth rises because of climate change and the undeniable need to prevent the plunder of resources.
The website for Kids Saving the Rainforest offers a full-day experience at their Wildlife Sanctuary near Quepos. Perhaps one day, the Busby quints and parents could consider it. After all, they love nature and enjoy marine life in Florida. Other celebs have visited Costa Rica, including Brad Pitt, albeit over a decade ago.
Founded “to educate people around the world about the ecological importance of the rainforest and to set up programs to preserve and protect the rainforest and its wildlife,” it costs $100 for an amazing experience.
The itinerary includes “transportation to and from locations in the Manuel Antonio and Quepos area, and a prepared lunch.” The tour of the nature conservation area sounds like fun for all ages. Meet interesting wildlife like spider monkeys and sloths, before enjoying a refreshment break.
After lunch, you can work with other staff and volunteers. Although you can’t pet the animals, you can get close to them while helping to raise nature conservation awareness.
Over 18s can be unaccompanied. If you want a break from college, you can sign up for longer stays and become very involved.
Looking for more than just a vacation experience? The website for KSTR also reveals a need for volunteers to intern as zookeepers, in veterinary work, or even in media and marketing. It’s a good way to learn more about nature, and it involves not only cute rainforest friends. This month, the Instagram page for Kids Saving the Rainforest shared a reel about a sealion who was tended to.
Those people familiar with their nature conservation organization seem full of praise for the work that goes on there. One follower said, “when i say that it is my DREAM to do this one summer.” Another person wrote, “Love this initiative.”
