General Hospital Spoilers: Daniel Goddard’s Gig on The Young and the Restless Felt Like “Nothing”
General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Daniel Goddard has made a splash as Port Charles’ new character, Professor Dalton. He recently talked to Woman’s World magazine about his soap journey and we have all the juice (and maybe a scoop or two) for you here!
Before GH Goddard starred as Cane Ashby on The Young and the Restless. He departed the show in late November 2019 and actually read for the part of Jack Brennan, a role now filled by former One Lie to Live star Chris McKenna.
Daniel Goddard Felt Failure
Although he eventually landed a plum role, Goddard says that he “felt like those 12 years or so on Y&R amounted to nothing, because I was back to auditioning.” Hey, even major stars sometimes have to audition for a part!
After auditioning for Brennan, Goddard found out that executive producer Frank Valentini wanted him for a new role, the dark Professor Dalton. Taking on the newbie character felt like “a do-over” for the Y&R alum.
Soaps Are Different and Alike
Goddard talked about the differences between Y&R and GH, with the former giving actors a whole script, whereas, General Hospital actors receive only gives the pages they are in. Goddard recalls reading scripts a month into the future, but now is comfortable with day to day knowledge.
Fun Fact: Goddard has caught up with Genie Francis (Laura) and Tristan Rogers (Robert) who played Cane’s parents, Genevieve and Colin.
Who is Dalton?
Thus far Dalton has been presented as a man of mystery. He claims to be in the dark about the true nature of his character and wouldn’t mind if the prof turns out to be a major villain.
To date the show has kept Dalton opaque, and it’s anyone’s guess what he’s really up to. Ironically, last week Brennan and Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) had a convo about the professor. It turns out that the WSB is keeping tabs on him, via Joss Jacks (Eden McCoy) the most unlikely spy ever hired.
Will Joss be able to crack the case of the century for the World Security Bureau? It’s more likely that she mucks things up royally, but in the meantime, let the summer games begin!
