Jill Dillard & Family Enjoy A Bittersweet Spring Break

Three years ago, Counting On alum Jill Dillard, her husband, Derick, and her two boys, Israel and Sam, enjoyed time camping out on the Buffalo National River, and this spring break, they went again. However, it was bittersweet despite having baby Freddy, 2, with them this time.

The Adventure at Steel Creek

On April 3, Jill took to her Instagram and posted some nice photos of her family enjoying themselves in the wilderness. None of the photos showed her boys’ faces, but we shared the video of their old trip there further down in this article. That way, you can get an idea of how much fun camping along the Buffalo National River can be.

In her caption, the former TLC star told her fans:

We had a lovely time getting away from it all over spring break to go camping at the Buffalo National River (Steel Creek campground)…The weather was a little cold, but mostly lovely, and the sun warmed our hearts!

Additonally, Jill Dillard asked others what they did on their spring break.

The Bittersweet Aspect

The sad part about the trip was that last year, they had planned a visit to the same place. But, unfortunately, they were preparing to say farewell to their stillborn child, Isla. So, Jill Dillard added, “[We] ended up having to cancel…as we planned Isla’s burial [and] funeral arrangements.“

This trip involved a bit of reflection as they packed their “leftover pink spoons from last year.” That way, they could “remember” their baby girl.

Jill had not known that Isla passed away in-utero, and the sad discovery was made after a routine check-up. As many people understand the terrible loss of a child, many of them stepped up to support her on that sad anniversary this year.
