Collin Gosselin will be releasing his memoir ‘In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood’ soon.

In it, he finally rips apart the reality of his childhood, and tells us what it’s really like when the cameras are off.

Following his deeply disturbing revelations, and his mother Kate’s prompt insistence that they’re all false, a fan has advised the 51-year-old reality TV star to file a defamation claim against her son.

However, she revealed that it’s not possible to do so given her profile as a public figure. “The rules are different for ppl in the public eye,” she explained in a comment. “I consulted a high power LA attorney (you’ve definitely heard of him) years ago when other ppl were putting crazy stuff out there and that’s what he said.

The courts don’t honor it if you’re in the public eye :(.”

Collins, on his own part, took to his Instagram stories to refute her claims that his accusations are “100% lies.” “Never forget the fact that my mom would write in her diary how she ‘had to pray to God to stop hitting me’ (this was while I was 2 years old by the way),” he noted. “And this is why using my voice to put these things in the light is so important.”

Kate Gosselin might have told us her own side of the story raising eight children, but now one of her sextuplets is nearly here with his. In fact, his story will land in the hands of fans come this October.

“For a long time, I wasn’t sure I’d ever tell this story,” he wrote in an Instagram post as he announced the book. “Growing up, millions of people watched my life on television.

People felt like they knew me. They knew my family. They watched me grow up. But there was so much they never saw.”

“For years, I kept those experiences to myself. Some because I was afraid. Some because I didn’t think anyone would believe me. And some because I just wasn’t ready,” he continued. “This isn’t the story people think they know. It’s the story I’ve lived.”

This is not the first time that Collin has accused his mom, who shares 25-year-old twins, Collin and his fellow Sextuplets, with ex Jon Gosselin.

Previously, in 2024, he told The Sun how he was confined and “isolated” from his siblings by his mother. He also claimed that he was mostly the one on the receiving end of his mother’s problems.

He described his relationship with his mother as “physically aggressive” and “verbally, very abusive.”
