She knows what it was like to be with Nick following the brief time she was with Adam. Nick is calm, treats her with respect, and projects stability, meaning he is all the things Adam is not.

Adam has been pushing a redemption storyline. He claims to have hit rock bottom and may be telling the truth, to whatever degree that is possible.
To be fair, Adam did cite Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) moving away from Genoa City, Wisconsin, while citing his father always being at odds with the Newmans. That hurt Adam and made him reconsider his recent behavior.
The plan to get back into Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) good graces is different. Adam knows his blood tie gives him access to his father’s heart. Plus, he is calculating that Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) will not survive long-term and the big chair will eventually be offered to him by the Moustache.

Adam applied pressure to Sally whether he was around her or not. He also waited for an opportunity to remind her of his importance and pounced.
Nick’s out-of-town business trip became the moment when Adam seized the day. He had dinner with Sally, they drank, and the kiss followed.
Their undeniable chemistry persists, and Nick has confirmed it. But no one can predict or control what Sally will do next on Y&R.
