Now this is not the news that anyone was expecting to hear this weekend. The Young and the Restless star Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) has left the daytime television world in shock as he has revealed that he has cancer. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.

The Young And The Restless Fans React To Eric Braeden’s Cancer Diagnosis

Eric took to his Facebook account on Saturday morning to announce the news to his fans. He said that soon after he had knee surgery, he began to have some painful symptoms and problems with his prostate. This prompted him to see several doctors until he was diagnosed with cancer.

In his video, Eric said, “I hate to be so personal, but I think this may be good for some older guys who may, or may not, listen to this. It’ll happen to them.”

Eric went on to say that while he’s already had surgery to remove cancer, a biopsy revealed that he had both high-grade and low-grade cancer cells. He will be continuing treatment with a 6-week immunotherapy treatment plan. He said, “Needless to say, I was taken aback, but I was determined to deal with it. So, that’s where I am right now. I’m a little under the weather, but not really much. I’ve learned, now, to listen to my body more and not go all out. I’m gonna get it. And I’ll be in top form again soon.”

Of course, it didn’t take long at all for Eric’s fans and followers to comment on his situation. Many of them took to social media to write, “This is heartbreaking. But if anyone can beat this, it’s Eric. He is a force of nature both on and off the screen and sending him my thoughts and best wishes,” along with, “Victor Newman is a fighter. I have no doubt that Eric will return to a healthy state! Our family loves you Eric and you have our support If I can help in any way, I surely will! Get Well!”

Another fan wrote, “Love Eric and his character. Been a fan since the early ’80s. Admittedly, in those years, I thought of him as a real dick-tater. Over the years, my feelings and taste have changed. All of the Young and Restless world are wishing a speedy and complete recovery. Expect to be watching forever.”
