General Hospital (GH) Spoilers: Esme Struggles To Cope With The Reality of Going Back to Prison — Without Her Baby

General Hospital: Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl)

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) isn’t handling the news well that she is going to be separated from her son. When Esme gave birth at Wyndemere during a rather traumatic event — finding out her birth parents were psychopaths — it was Laura Collins (Genie Francis) who maintained a calm and encouraging presence for her to welcome her son, Ace Cassadine, into the world with. Esme won’t forget that when she asks Laura to be the guardian for her baby, but is Laura really in a good position to take on the burden of parenting another one of Nikolas Cassadine’s (Adam Huss) children right now? Perhaps not, but Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) seems ready and willing to fill in. Will he?

General Hospital Spoilers — Spencer Cassadine Is Ready To Roll

Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) has been preparing for this moment for a while now. When he learned that Esme was pregnant with his father, Nikolas’, child, he instantly felt sorrow for the baby who would grow up with Nik for a dad. He longed for a way to somehow exempt his sibling from the same kind of pain he experienced as Nikolas always placed himself above his son’s needs.

When Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) handed Spencer all the evidence he needed of Nik’s crimes to blackmail him into relinquishing custody and handing Ace over to Spencer, he thought he checked every box. As it turns out, someone else will be stepping in to parent Ace in Esme’s absence, though.

General Hospital Updates – Victor Cassadine Plots His Course

Rumor has it Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) showed up to tell Spencer he won’t be taking Ace anywhere because a challenge to Spencer’s petition for custody was received and the court ruled in favor of the challenger — Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy).

Victor may have managed to worm his way into Esme’s head after he found out Nikolas ditched his life, once again. However, that doesn’t mean Victor has good intentions. He plans to see to it that Esme never sees the light of day again, and that her child remains in his custody. With that comes an enormous amount of responsibility, but Victor is far more concerned with the enormous amount of money that comes with being the sole caretaker of Nikolas’ heir.

General Hospital: Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl)

Esme Prince’s Mental Health Will Suffer

Should Esme agree with the court and sign over custody to Victor, she’s going to come to regret that decision rather quickly. She should have listened to the warnings others gave her about the Cassadine men, but she didn’t think the opinions of people like her birth mother, Heather Webber (Alley Mills) were all that reliable.

She will learn the truth about Victor’s character the hard way when he quickly ices her out of Ace’s life and sees to it that she is going to spend a much longer time in prison than she expected. The trauma of learning who her parents were, giving birth under such distress, and having her child ripped away from her could throw Esme into a tailspin of emotional disturbances. Postpartum depression and rage could set in and unleash a junior version of Heather to the likes of which Port Charles has never seen. Stay tuned for more General Hospital news and spoilers just ahead.

  1. […] Despite all of Esme’s concerns about Spencer and Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) having their own agendas and all Cassadines being awful people, Laura was right — she is not a Cassadine. She has also shown Esme compassion from the very start, which makes sense since she was advocating for her even to Nikolas, though Esme doesn’t know that. However, there is one prominent memory for Esme that she won’t be able to shake off. When Esme was in labor and giving birth at Wyndemere, Laura was right by her side acting as her coach, and even somewhat as the maternal figure Esme never had in her life. At that moment, Esme couldn’t have asked for more. […]
