Chance has decided that he needs to get a divorce from Abby because she had an affair with Devon Hamilton (Bryton James). Chance and Abby had been having trouble before Abby had turned to Devon. Chance and Abby did not agree about the investigation into Ashland Locke’s (Robert Newman) death. Chance had believed that Abby’s father Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) had covered up the way that Ashland had died to protect his daughter Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and son Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow).
Chance had wanted to get proof against Victor but he could not find the proof that he needed. Chance had been conflicted about the way that the case was handled. Chance believes in justice and did not believe that he was able to get justice for Ashland. Chance knew that Abby had been relieved that Victor would not get into trouble but Chance believed that Victor had gotten away with a crime. Chance had wanted to work with Rey at the Genoa City Police Department before Rey’s death. Chance decided that he would close all of the cases that Rey had been working on. Chance had hoped that Sharon would find comfort in knowing that Rey’s work had been completed. Sharon has been grateful to Chance for working on Rey’s cases.
